More on Listening:
If we want our learners to develop their listening skills, research suggests that one of the essentials of language acquisition is exposure. By exposure, we argue that learners need to be exposed to meaning- focused input (i.e. listening texts) for at least 20 minutes a day. This exposure needs to be done within a guided approach that helps listeners focus on the message, the strategies used to understand such a message, and the problematic sounds and words associated with the message. In short, an approach where meaning is built from the bottom-up as as well as the top down is required. A Listening Journal is one of the tools we have designed and use to serve this need. We hope you make good use of it and it helps your learners!
